Police say there is no threat to former President Donald Trump’s Long Island rally site after “explosives” were found in a car near the site.
A spokesperson for the Nassau County Police Department confirmed to DailyMail.com that “there was a suspicious event” on Wednesday before Trump’s speech where thousands of MAGA fans gathered.
But there is “no validity” to a report that there was an “explosive device found”.
“Reports of explosives found at the site are unfounded,” Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryde said.
“There is a person who has been questioned who may have trained a bomb detection dog near the site. The individual with the bomb detection dog falsely claimed that explosives were found and that individual is currently being detained by the police .
The latest reports of a possible breach of Trump’s security come just three days after an assassin was arrested after chasing the former president with a gun while playing at his Palm Beach golf club.
Police working in conjunction with the secret service remain on high alert in the area hours before the former president takes the stage.

Sources in the Nassau County Police Department told reporter James Lalino earlier Wednesday that the perimeter of the demonstration site was breached and a blue can was removed.
Additionally, during the sweep K9s apparently “found an explosive device in one of the vehicles.”
Sources said the driver ended up running into the woods.
“No one saw if he had anything on him, they just saw him run away. A lot of cars are parked right now, they’re lined up on Hempstead Turnpike, they’re just parked on the grass. Even in the Park Eisenhower, they’re just parked here,” the source told Lalino according to a post on X.
Thousands of MAGA fans are expected to descend on Long Island this afternoon before the 7 pm ET show at the Nassau Coliseum.
A large crowd has already gathered and many camped out overnight to get good seats in the indoor arena.
The doors don’t open until 3 pm ET, but already MAGA fans have gathered, dressed in gear, hats, Trump buttons and waving large flags.
Nassau County Police told DailyMail.com they are “working on an email” to send out in response to the alleged security incident.
A Secret Service spokesman also said reports of “explosives” found in a car are false.
Trump has largely moved to domestic events since the first attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

Police later caught up with Routh, who was holding his t-shirt in an embarrassingly raised position over his head. When the officers arrested their suspect, Routh dropped his shirt over his body.
Trump, 78, was wounded and brought to safety by the Secret Service in another close call less than two months after he was shot in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Routh wore black prison scrubs and had his hands and feet shackled as he entered the Paul G Rogers federal courthouse Monday morning.
The hearing lasted eight minutes and Routh was charged with two counts: possession of a firearm while under sentence; and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
It is unclear where Routh obtained the gun, especially since it is not a firearm that is available for purchase in Florida.
Criminal indictment documents released Monday reveal that Routh was hovering around the course from 1:59 a.m. Sunday to 1:31 p.m. — when he fled the scene.
